Photography & film for wine estates & venues in Cape Town.
Estate, venue and hospitality media for properties that sell an occasion.
A venue is booked twelve to eighteen months before the event, entirely on photographs, usually by someone who has never seen it in person. That makes the gallery the single most important commercial asset the property owns. TimeSake shoots venues for the decision being made: what the space looks like set and empty, how the light moves across the day, where the ceremony sits, and what the whole place looks like from the air at the hour couples actually get married.
What wine estates & venues are up against in Cape Town
The Cape events and hospitality market is a genuine export industry. Planners and corporate buyers in London, Amsterdam and Dubai shortlist Winelands and Peninsula venues entirely online, book a year ahead, and often never visit before the week of the event. Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, Paarl and Constantia estates are competing against each other on gallery quality alone, and the coastal venues from Hout Bay to Simon's Town are competing on a view that has to survive a small phone screen. We shoot the region seasonally — green vines in summer, russet in autumn — because an estate that only shows one season loses every enquiry from the other three.
- Winelands estates are flown at first light while the valley mist is still in the rows.
- Ceremony positions are shot in both the green and the russet season so the gallery works year-round.
- Coastal Peninsula venues are scheduled around the south-easter so outdoor frames read as calm.
Set and empty, because planners need both
Every venue enquiry asks two questions at once: can I picture my event here, and will my configuration fit. A set frame answers the first and an empty frame answers the second, so we shoot both of every space. Empty frames are done clean and architectural, straight verticals, no styling, so a planner can read the room. Set frames are shot during or immediately after a real event, with the client's permission, because a professionally dressed room always outperforms a staged one. Delivered side by side in the gallery, this pairing removes most of the back-and-forth from an enquiry, which venue managers notice within a month.
The light across a whole day
Couples ask what time the ceremony should start. The honest answer is in the photographs. We shoot the ceremony position at three points across the day so the venue can show, not tell — morning, the golden window, and the blue-hour crossover when the lights come up. The same applies to the reception space: a room photographed only in daylight tells a bride nothing about how it feels at nine at night. It takes one long day to build this properly and it becomes the backbone of the venue's sales conversation for years, because no competitor gallery answers the question as directly.
Aerials that show the setting and the scale
For estates the surroundings are the reason people book: the vine rows, the oaks, the mountain behind, the dam catching the last light. A single well-composed aerial at the right hour does more for an estate's enquiry rate than another twenty ground frames. We plan flights at first and last light, log the positions so we can return to them seasonally, and cover the practical questions in the same pass — where guests park, how far the walk from the ceremony to the reception is, whether the marquee footprint actually fits on that lawn. Practical frames convert planners; beautiful frames convert couples.
A gallery that feeds every channel
Venue marketing runs on three surfaces: the website gallery, the venue and events directories, and Instagram. Each wants a different crop and a different rhythm. We deliver a landscape hero set for the site, a vertical set for reels and directory mobile listings, and a detail library — the table setting, the glassware, the light through the cellar door — that fills the grid between live events. Everything arrives named and alt-texted so the venue's SEO benefits from the shoot as well, and so a coordinator can find the correct frame at nine at night without opening every file.
