Editing pipeline

Every frame is hand-edited in Lightroom and Photoshop on a calibrated NEC PA-series monitor. Verticals are corrected first, then the ambient exposure is set against the darkest usable shadow. Window pulls are hand-masked so the sea view or the mountain outside stays legible — no white blob where the sky should be. Colour temperature is matched across the set: a warm tungsten downlight in the kitchen does not get to make the dining room look sodium orange in the very next shot. Skin tones on any staged model are kept true, timber floors kept in their real hue, and grass on the exterior shots pulled to a South African late-summer green, not a Northern-hemisphere lime. Every image ships in two sizes — a 3000px master for print marketing, and a 1600px web set optimised for Property24, Private Property and the agency's own site.

Access, estates and the people on site

Security-estate access at Steyn City, Waterfall or Blue Valley in Johannesburg, and at Val de Vie or Silverhurst in the Cape, is coordinated with the estate manager two days ahead so a guard is not asking for a boot search while the light is going. Tenanted homes get a call the day before so nobody is surprised by a camera in the passage. Domestic staff on site are treated with respect — we introduce ourselves, we do not photograph anyone without a POPIA-conscious verbal consent, and we work around cleaning schedules rather than through them. Where a home is occupied by a family with young children, we shoot the bedrooms first so the rest of the day belongs to them again.
