Videographer — Cape Town
Our films have to hold a viewer for sixty to ninety seconds without a voiceover carrying them. That comes from motivated movement, a considered order of shots, and restraint — a slow push through a doorway beats four gimbal orbits. We shoot property walkthroughs, development launches, hospitality films, brand pieces and interview sets.
You will typically work solo or with one assistant, on location, from a treatment we agree before the day. We shoot log, we care about exposure discipline and matched white balance across a build, and we hand over organised rushes with a sound report and a shot log.
Bookings are per production. Some are a half-day walkthrough, others are a two-day development launch with drone, interviews and a stills set running alongside.
Working in Cape Town
Cape Town is our home base — the studio address is in Melkbosstrand and most weeks run across the Atlantic Seaboard, the City Bowl and the Southern Suburbs. The work is seasonal in shape: summer brings international buyers, hospitality campaigns and estate launches, while winter shifts toward interiors, corporate portraits and studio-side production. Crew here need to be comfortable with wind, fast-changing coastal light and tight street parking outside Sea Point and Bo-Kaap addresses.
Where the work happens: Sea Point, Camps Bay, Clifton, Constantia, Bishopscourt, Hout Bay, Green Point, the V&A Waterfront, Woodstock, Somerset West and out to Melkbosstrand and Bloubergstrand.
What you'll do
- Shoot to an agreed treatment and shot list, on location, to schedule
- Operate gimbal, slider and tripod work with motivated, purposeful movement
- Record clean dialogue with lav and boom on interview and testimonial set-ups
- Maintain exposure and white-balance continuity across a full build
- Back up to two drives on the day and hand over logged, organised rushes
What you need
- Own camera capable of 10-bit log recording plus fast primes or a quality zoom
- Gimbal, sturdy tripod, and a working audio kit (lav plus shotgun and recorder)
- Three or more years of commercial, property or narrative camera work, with a reel
- Own transport, valid driver's licence, and the discipline to arrive early
- Comfortable directing non-actors — agents, chefs, executives, homeowners
Nice to have
- Editing and grading in DaVinci Resolve or Premiere
- Remote Pilot Licence for drone units on the same production
- Experience on estate, hotel or wine-farm locations
