What a 3D scan will not do
A virtual tour is a technical scan, not a marketing film. It reads flat compared to a well-lit editorial still, it does not show the property in the best light of the day, and it does not tell a story. Every tour we produce is paired with a proper photo set and, on higher-value stock, a video walkthrough — because the still is what pulls the buyer to the listing, the video is what makes them share it, and the tour is what makes them commit to a physical viewing. We are honest about that mix in every quote so the mandate lands with the right expectations.
How the capture works on site
A typical three-bedroom home takes 45 minutes to scan; a double-storey Constantia or Waterfall home closer to 90 minutes. We scan after the still photography so the ambient light is already set — curtains open, downlights off unless they add to the story, and the pool skimmed. The camera moves in a grid pattern room by room, one capture every two metres, and every doorway is captured from both sides so the stitching does not skip a threshold. Occupied homes work fine — we ask the residents to leave the room being scanned, and we blur any incidental faces in the final delivery to keep the tour POPIA-safe.
