A reel is not a landscape video with black bars. Every vertical asset is shot vertical on a Sony A7 IV with the sensor cropped to 9:16, or on an iPhone 15 Pro Max where the native platform look serves the story better. Reels open with a scroll-stopper hook in the first 0.8 seconds, cut on the beat, and end on a clear next-action prompt. Grid stills are shot square where they will land on the Instagram grid, and portrait where they will run as a Story or a LinkedIn carousel.
