Real Estate Photography in Cape Winelands.
Wide-angle, HDR-balanced interior and exterior stills that make listings stand out on Property24 and Private Property. Every shot is hand-edited — no cheap flambient plug-in look, no warped verticals, no orange window glow.
Editing pipeline
Every frame is hand-edited in Lightroom and Photoshop on a calibrated NEC PA-series monitor. Verticals are corrected first, then the ambient exposure is set against the darkest usable shadow. Window pulls are hand-masked so the sea view or the mountain outside stays legible — no white blob where the sky should be. Colour temperature is matched across the set: a warm tungsten downlight in the kitchen does not get to make the dining room look sodium orange in the very next shot. Skin tones on any staged model are kept true, timber floors kept in their real hue, and grass on the exterior shots pulled to a South African late-summer green, not a Northern-hemisphere lime. Every image ships in two sizes — a 3000px master for print marketing, and a 1600px web set optimised for Property24, Private Property and the agency's own site.
SA-specific considerations
Load-shedding is planned around, not fought with. We check the EskomSePush schedule the night before every shoot and either move the appointment or bring a battery-powered LED panel so the interiors do not sit in shadow when stage 4 hits at midday. Security-estate access at Steyn City, Waterfall or Blue Valley in Johannesburg, and at Val de Vie or Silverhurst in the Cape, is coordinated with the estate manager two days ahead so a guard is not asking for a boot search while the light is going. Domestic staff on site are treated with respect — we introduce ourselves, we do not shoot anyone without a POPIA-conscious verbal consent, and we work around cleaning schedules rather than through them.
What makes a listing shoot go wrong
The three things that ruin a real estate shoot are clutter, mixed light, and rushing the exterior. We ask the homeowner to clear surfaces the night before — no bathroom bottles, no fridge magnets, no laundry basket by the door — because those are the details a buyer sees before they see the tile finish. Mixed light is a choice: we either turn every warm downlight off and shoot ambient, or we balance the temperature ourselves with gels — we do not leave a lounge glowing amber next to a daylight-blue window. The exterior gets the same care as the master bedroom: verticals straight, no delivery van in the driveway, no dog on the grass, and the pool skimmed. Small things, but they are the difference between a listing that gets bookings and one that gets skipped.
