Video Editor & Colourist — Cape Winelands
The edit is where a property film either earns its ninety seconds or loses the viewer at eight. We are looking for an editor who cuts to rhythm rather than to the beat marker, who can build a walkthrough that reads as one continuous move through a home, and who grades for believable skin and honest interior whites rather than a teal wash.
Work is remote, project by project, from organised rushes with a shot log. Deliverables are usually a hero cut plus 9:16 and 1:1 social versions, captioned, at spec for Instagram, YouTube and portal upload.
Turnarounds are tight — three to five business days on a standard build — so predictable communication matters more than speed.
Working in Cape Winelands
The Winelands run on hospitality and estate work — wine farms, boutique hotels, restaurants and heritage homesteads, with a heavy harvest and wedding season. Shoots are longer and slower here: an estate day can mean cellar, vineyard, suites and dinner service in one call sheet. Crew usually travel out from Cape Town in the morning, so early call times and a reliable vehicle matter.
Where the work happens: Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, Paarl, Somerset West and the surrounding farm roads.
What you'll do
- Cut hero films plus vertical and square social versions from supplied rushes
- Grade for consistent skin tone and neutral interior whites across a build
- Mix dialogue, ambience and licensed music to broadcast-sane levels
- Build captions and lower thirds to the brand type and colour spec
- Manage versions and client feedback rounds without losing the master timeline
What you need
- DaVinci Resolve or Premiere Pro at a professional standard, plus a grading eye
- Three or more years of short-form commercial editing, with a reel
- Machine capable of 10-bit log timelines and reliable fibre or LTE
- Disciplined file management and version naming
- Available for a same-day message during a delivery week
Nice to have
- Motion graphics in After Effects for titles and property data cards
- Sound design and cleanup on interview audio
- Experience cutting property or hospitality content specifically
